The East Midlands Regional Development Team (RDT) is a small group of volunteers who are here to support paddlers, clubs and coaches in the East Midlands, and to promote paddling events throughout the region.

Event Description

Join us for a networking and social paddling event for women in the heart of the East Midlands. This event is a great way to network with other paddlers, to work on your paddling, coaching, leading, try new disciplines and to explore a new area in a relaxed and friendly environment.

 

Programme of events:

 

Day 1, Saturday 22nd August 2026

  • Arrivals from 9am and check in by 9:45am 
  • Paddling workshops including:
    • Biosecurity and invasive species workshops
    • Flat water rafting
    • Coaching development for qualified and aspirant coaches
    • Leadership development for qualified and aspirant leaders
    • Rescues workshops
    • SUP skills Beginner, intermediate & advanced
    • Kayak skills Beginner, intermediate & advanced
    • Canoe Skills Beginner, intermediate & advanced
    • Performance coach sessions
    • Stay and Play – try out lots of kit and equipment
    • Social paddle
    • BBQ

 

Day 2, Sunday 23rd August 2026

  • Paddling workshops including:

    • Coaching development for qualified and aspirant coaches

Your ticket provides access to the whole weekend of activities as outlined above if you are an aspiring coach or leader and would like some specific support from one of the providers joining us for the weekend please let us know prior to the event:

Competency requirements:

  • The weekend is open to all abilities – from coaches and leaders & aspirant coaches and leaders, to just starting out – all paddlers will need to have had their initial taster session elsewhere before the weekend if they are new to paddling but there will be something for everyone. 

 

Licence and membership requirements:

  • The event is open to all female paddlers. 

 

Age limit:

  • The weekend is aimed at adults, however children are very welcome as long as they are supervised by a female parent/guardian at all times.  

 

Number of tickets:

  • We have 60 tickets available to purchase. 

 

Cost:

  • Weekend ticket - £45 Your ticket includes camping and BBQ on Saturday evening.

 

Venue:

  • Broadway’s Meadow, Barrow Upon Soar, Loughborough, LE12 8XJ, Opposite the Mooring's pub.

 

Camping Details:

  • Broadway's Meadow is a basic campsite with running cold water and portable toilets on site - parking will be available in an adjacent field, campervans are welcome. No electric hook up available on site. 
  • The parking area is uneven ground and will be roughly mown, please bring appropriate footwear. Please share transport or consider using public transport.
  • If camping, please bring a small tent to ensure there is space for all. 
  • Camping enables you to camp on site for the full weekend, if you would like to camp on Friday too the site will be open from Friday afternoon, please contact us with your estimated time of arrival. 

 

Additional facilities:

  • This year we will be running a BBQ on the Saturday evening, please let us know if you have any dietary requirements or allergies when you book your ticket.  

Other information:

  • The site is suitable for open water swimming as well as opportunities to test out a range of kit and equipment. 
  • The ground is grassy and uneven, the get in has a concrete wall and step down to the water. There is a grassy bank further along the tow path which is suitable for a get in and a wooden platform for launching 
  • Support can be offered to those with disabilities to ensure access to the water – please contact Claire [email protected] or WhatsApp 07513551541 if you would like to ask any questions regarding access. 
  • The Moorings Pub opposite serves food and drinks throughout the day and evening. 
  • There is a small convenience store 5-minute walk from the meadow.

 

Equipment:

  • Bring your own craft – please bring your own equipment/borrow from your club if you have one. 
  • There will be a small number of paddleboards, canoes and kayaks available to borrow for beginners’ sessions.  
  • All paddlers will need to ensure they bring with them a correctly fitting buoyancy aid.
