Requirements
Start Paddling with Southampton Canoe Club
This session aims to introduce newcomers to Paddling and is suitable for all over 8's. By the end of the course, we hope that you will have learned how to paddle and be ready to join the club, having had a lot of fun in the process!
We will provide you with the relevant skills to keep you safe on the water, use of correct kit, basic forward, backward and turning paddling strokes, demonstration of safety equipment and what to do in the event of a capsize. Courses are run by qualified Paddle UK (formerly known as British Canoeing) coaches and includes Temporary Membership and all equipment for the course.
What to bring:
- Changes of clothes to wear paddling (eg, shorts/leggings and tee-shirts NO jeans)
- Towel
- Old thin soled trainers/beach shoes to wear in the boat (NO open toed shoes or ‘Crocs’)
Southampton Canoe Club is a charity completely run by volunteers. Please let us know if you can not attend anymore.
Southampton Canoe Club prefers that all under-18s have a responsible adult attend with them. All under-12s must be accompanied by an adult who will remain on site for the duration of the course.
Young people under the age of 18 must have a consent form completed by a parent or guardian.
