This event is being organised and sponsored by Ocean Surfski. The Event is being held under the authority and governance of the Paddle UK (PUK) Ocean Racing UK Committee (ORUK), and we thank both PUK and the Committee for their support to and development of Ocean Racing in the UK. We'd like to thank our hosts, and water safety teams provided by Exmouth Beach Rescue Club, which is a Surf Live Saving GB (SLSGB) affiliated club. We'd also like to thank the landowners, East Devon District Council for their kind permission and support to hold the event.

X Bay is a grade 1 race, designed for paddlers new to racing and experienced athletes at the beginning of the European race season. XBay26 is open to Surfskis (SS1 and SS2), Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUPs), and Outriggers (OC1, OC2, V6).
Age group / classes follow ICF categories: U18, U23, Open, Masters (35-54), Veterans (55+), Open Doubles, Para.
This race starts and finishes between flags on the beach, and consists of 3 laps of a triangular course, approx 10miles total. Competitors are encouraged to complete 3 laps, but can decide during the race to return to the finish after 1 or 2 laps.
2026 is an exciting year for Ocean Racing UK, launching the GB Series of 9 races. XBay26 is the 1st of 9 races in the 2026 GB Race Series, so you start to accrue points towards the series results. All competitors must read, understand and abide by the race brief and instructions given on the day, and follow all safety instructions. Paddlers entering the race will complete a declaration and self-certification of fitness and competency to race in the conditions on the day - paddlers can withdraw from the race if the conditions on the day are beyond their safe capability, and will be refunded their entry fee less small admin sum.
The Ocean Surfski shop will pop up - you are welcome to order in advance, for collection pre-race.
We aim to have the minimal impact possible on the environment and our oceans - this is a no waste event - please take any waste home, minimise single use plastic and recycle where possible.
Exmouth Beach is a fantastic location for families and supporters to view the entire race, from the vast sandy beach, with easy access from the car park and lots of local cafes and amenities. (Please note, no dogs on the main beach after 1 April). We look forward to seeing you there!
